Support Available via new Community Front Room

The Community Front Room Support Service is now available to support people who are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing.

The service is available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 5:30pm to 11:30pm to people over 18 years who receive support in the Sedgemoor and Mendip areas. It can help with:

• Emotional distress
• Anxiety
• Social isolation
• Depression
• Low mood
• Poor sleep

The Community Front Room provides a safe and welcoming place and the chance to speak to a Recovery Navigator who can signpost to other support services for housing, debt, other health problems, substance misuse, unemployment, and information about Coronavirus. It's run by mental health charity Second Step, and was co-designed by local people with experience of mental health crisis who wanted to see more support available in the community rather than at hospital.

The Community Front Room is part of the Open Mental Health Alliance – a group of 10 mental health providers in Somerset, all working together to support people with their Mental Health. Together, they have a ‘no wrong door’ philosophy, If one of the services in the alliance isn’t quite right, they will offer support to find one that is.

The service is currently open to referrals through Mindline and GPs in the Mendip and Sedgemoor.
